Maumee Valley Country Day School had a large contingent in November 2022 at the NAIS People of Color Conference (PoCC) and the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) in San Antonio, TX. This is the first time in many years that students could attend in person. Upper School students present were Sarah, Johnna, Demetre, Rose, Khari, and Jaden. Faculty and staff attendees were Drew Williams, Georgette Small, Kassy Lee, and Sara Card.
In addition, Reanne Young, MV's director of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, represented the school as she served as a convener for the Asian American Pacific Islander Affinity space at the People of Color Conference last week in San Antonio. Among her other responsibilities,
Reanne presented two workshops with her AAPI colleagues: "BTS: How the World’s Biggest Band is Changing the World of Inclusion and Belonging" and, for the fourth year, a F.A.D.E. Workshop (Filipina/x/o American Decolonization Experience). This year's workshop was titled "Basking In the Sun: The People and Power of Kapwa." Way to represent, Reanne! Congratulations also to MV students, faculty, and staff for attending the conference and safely returning home.
